Oil is a 5 x 7 (inch) catalogue inspired by Art History and Instagram.
Why the name "Oil?"
1. Thanks for asking - this book consists primarily of faces (and some fruit), which produce oil.
2. I'm intrigued by the parallels between the way people were painted centuries ago with oil paints, and the way people choose to render themselves online. Both media highly edit the subject, whether it was an artist buffing out traces of small pox or a tainted bloodline, to a Kardashian blurring out their pores and snatching their waist with an app. We still strive for perfection, however the result can be more uncanny than beautiful.
