Oil is a 5 x 7 (inch) catalogue inspired by Art History and Instagram.
Why, thank you for asking!
1. This is a book of faces (and some fruit), which produce and secrete oil.
2. It is a reference to oil paintings - the original photoshop. There is an intriguing parallel between artists buffing away the flaws of inbred monarchs in traditional European portraiture, and the way anyone can “Yassify” themselves through an app today. It is the idealized image that people like to portray for posterity, but the cost of “perfection”can look more like the Uncanny Valley than the Golden Ratio.
